ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hilton Carter is passionate about propagating plants and in The Propagation Handbook, he equips readers with the knowledge and tools necessary to grow a brand-new plant from an existing one. Written in his signature engaging and accessible style, this beautiful and practical book—Hilton's fifth—digs into various methods of taking cuttings, root development, potting, maintaining, and displaying our new plant babies.

Taking a cutting from a beloved plant can seem daunting, but Hilton demystifies the entire process. He addresses FAQs such as: where is the best place on a plant to make a cut? Do you immediately place the cutting in regular water? How long will it take for a cutting to grow roots? and much more, and presents a wealth of easy-to-implement guidelines to get readers growing.

Hilton Carter is a plant and interior stylist, director, and fine artist. He has a large and loyal following on Instagram (@hiltoncarter), where he shares his passion for and encyclopedic knowledge of plant care and styling. Hilton has partnered with Target on three Hilton Carter for Target collections, and released his Guide to Houseplants workshops with the Magnolia Network.

A PBS-TV special, “Living Wild: Plant-spiration with Hilton Carter,” aired nationally on PBS-TV late-February through early March 2024. His previous books—all published by CICO Books—are Wild at Home (2019), Wild Interiors (2020), Wild Creations (2021), and Living Wild (2023). When not getting his hands dirty in a project, Hilton can be found cozying up in his Baltimore home with his wife, Fiona and daughter, Holland.
