Ladew Gardens Spring Market
We are honored to participate in this years show, hope to see you there.
Now in its 16th year, Ladew’s annual Garden Festival has become the most anticipated specialty plant, garden ornaments, and antiques sale in the region. Shop from a curated collection of 40 exclusive vendors from across the eastern seaboard offering hard to find perennials, specialty annuals, unique small trees, unusual exotics, container specialties, decorative garden furniture, urns, and architectural treasures.
Ticket proceeds from Garden Festival, Ladew’s longest running fundraising event of the year, go directly to the preservation of the 22-acre historic topiary gardens, historic Manor House, the native Butterfly House, the Children’s Environmental Education Program that serves nearly 4,000 children each year, and the array of over 100 events and educational programs offered to the community.

An Evening with Hilton Carter: Talk, Demo, and The Propagation Handbook Book Signing
We are honored to host our fellow plant lover and Baltimorean, Hilton Carter plant and interior stylist, best-selling author, and artist @hiltoncarter for an evening of conversation and plant propagation demos at our Walther Gardens & Nursery location.
Carter delves into best propagation methods, necessary tools and different considerations by type of plant. Follow along as he demonstrates his own plant propagation methods and then learn expert tips and tricks as he opens the floor for your questions.
Following his talk and demonstration, Carter will sign copies of The Propagation Handbook.

Lay your head on a pillow, pull the blanket to your chin, close your eyes, and chill. As we enter the shadow of winter, there is a much-needed desire to rest, to restore, to hibernate within our own little beautiful cave. A time to reflect and journey inward. To connect with our most pure self, the child within.
We invite you to join us for our first Bedtime Series. Curl up, get tucked in, and remember what it’s like to be a kid at bedtime. We’ll enjoy a meditative sound bath to release the day, followed by a short story written and read by Ryan Heller about a character his grandmother created for him as a child. Once our story ends, continue to rest as we experience a live song set by the multi-talented artist, Sanahara; who will use her soulful voice to carry us through the evening.
DIY Herbal Medicine Making with Alyssa Dennis
Join us for an exciting in-person event where you can discover the wonders of Herbal Medicine Making! Led by the knowledgeable Alyssa Dennis, this event will introduce you to the fascinating world of herbs and their healing properties. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this is the perfect opportunity to expand your knowledge and learn practical tips.
What is a tincture? Are you still not sure the difference between a tea, infusion or decoction? These are very accessible methods of herbal medicine making that you could be doing at home. Tinctures are an alcohol extraction & preservation method used for various forms of plant medicine.
Tinctures are one of the most expensive forms of herbal administration but also one of the most convenient & the most shelf stable. Making your own could be the difference between inaccessible and accessible plant medicine for daily health & well-being. Yet, the internet will often over simplify the tincture process which can be problematic for many reasons. For example, there are certain plants or parts of plants that do best in one form of herbal medicine preparation than another.
In this interactive hand-on community workshop you will learn how to prepare 3 of the most popular forms of herbal medicine; a decoction, infusion & tincture while also making sure you get the most out of our amazing allies, the herbs. Each participant will go home with their own herbal tincture & a sample blend of loose herbs.

Free Lecture / Seed Saving with Master Gardener Robert Cook
Join us for a free discussion and workshop on seed saving led by University of Maryland Master Gardener Robert Cook. Learn how to identify when seeds are ready to harvest, how to process seeds and how to store them for next year’s crop.
During the workshop we’ll gather seeds from our1,000 square feet of raised garden beds at our Walther Gardens & Nursery location. Gather seeds both our cut flower beds and vegetable gardens. Once collected we will prepare them and package them to take home for next year’s growing season.

Intro to Herbalism with Alyssa Dennis

Led by the knowledgeable Alyssa Dennis, this event will introduce you to the fascinating world of herbs and their healing properties. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this is the perfect opportunity to expand your knowledge and learn practical tips.
What is herbalism? Herbalism is as ancient as life itself. It predates recorded history, oral history, and even human beings. It is the foundation of all other forms of medicine & is the respectful use of whole plant materials such as leaves, flowers, fruit, seed, stem, bark, root, moss, lichen, seaweed or fungi to support & maintain health but also to prevent, alleviate, or resolve root causes of dis-ease. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 75-80% of the world’s population still relies on medicinal plant preparations for their primary healthcare needs.
In this introductory class we will delve into the benefits of herbs for holistic health. We will consider the foundations of herbal medicine & snippets of its history. We will discuss basic herbal preparations & you will learn the benefits of several different herbs you can work with at home. Together we will taste these herbs while discussing their energetic actions on the body & identify what makes them work. Each participant will go home with a tea sample & a few other goodies. Yay!

Join us for an ambient sound bath, healing, group art with Ryan Heller & live music by King Bishop.
This outdoor experience combines an ambient sound bath and guided journey to connect within. We'll then create a life-sized mixed-media portrait of our Sacred Self while hanging around the fire with live music by King Bishop.
No art experience necessary! We are here to be curious and play with collage, paint, and various materials. This exploration allows you to intuitively discover various layers of Self, and creatively represent the many colors, textures, images, and symbols that shape your narrative.

We are filled with joy to share Margies newest location with the Grand Opening of The Margaret Cleveland, Walther Gardens & Nursery. Join us Saturday, May 13th from 10am-5pm as we officially open our much anticipated nursery & garden center. This location will showcase all of Margies keepsakes & treasures in addition to all of her favorite plants & garden goodies.
The Peggy, the countries oldest snowball stand, will feature seasonal treats to enjoy while you explore the grounds and take in all this magical place has to offer. From home & accessories in the restored 1885 Queen Anne Farmhouse, to our garden center, potting shed, various retail outbuildings, cut flower grow area, herb garden, master gardener vegetable demonstration garden and rain garden to name a few.
The Margaret Cleveland, Walther Gardens & Nursery location will surely inspire & offer a place to gather, share & grow.
PLAYFORM | Duality
This very special gathering will be hosted by Ryan Sirois Heller and Tong Liu. Both sound practitioners will hold space on each end of the PLAYFORM studio with guests lying in the middle as crystal sound bowls, gongs, vocal toning, and various instruments are played in divine tandem. We are focused on duality, on the balance of both shadow and light, as we embrace all parts of self. This immersive sound experience will offer an intuitive visual journey and group reflection on introducing balance into our life, embracing all of who we are. To live in both the light and dark, the masculine and feminine, a brilliant harmony of self.

Experience an immersive sound bath with all the feels. Crystal bowls, gongs, drums, and other sounds will guide us along an intuitive visual journey. Throughout this meditative experience we are given images, messages, and feelings that shape an inner dialogue of who we are, where we have been, and what we need to know. Together we will co-create abstract, free-flow writing in the form of poetry or inner ramblings to connect with those feelings, hold space for one another as we explore what it means to be a spiritual being in a human experience.
